Converse's Latest Collab with Illustrious Designer Feng Chen Wang explores technichal deconstruction at its finest.

Feng Chen Wang, a Chinese-born fashion designer based in London is on the frontline of the new generation of fashion talent coming out of the emerging China scene. Her aesthetic is described as “future-modern, authentic and multidimensional”, focusing on the technical deconstruction of garments and to create unisex clothing that is conceptual and personal as well as functional. First appearing on her Spring summer 2019 runway show in Shanghai Fashion Week, the reworked Chuck Taylor 70 silhouette complimented and truly displayed her aesthetic of technical deconstruction and exploration.

The shape, style and color of the shoe pays respect to the original icon that is the Chuck Taylor, whilst breaking the structure of it in the designers own style. Dubbed “The Chuck 70 2-in-1”, the design of the silhouette is crafted with two shoes in mind. Taken from two shoes, an overlay of canvas material on the other, double-layering of the foxing tape and deconstructed outsole, all intricately placed together. The designer’s namesake logo is presented on the heel, sockliner and laces, the piece coming in black and persimmon orange color palettes.
